Art is candy for the soul,
and the colors are the flavors.

-Wud

This is the 17th issue of the "Young @ Art" Newsletter.

Art is one of life's adventures that every child should have access to, and every adult should embrace. I don't think there is a measurement for how much art is "enough." Children are sponges and will soak up as much art as you can dish out.

This issue of "Young @ Art" has some Spring art activities for you and your child to try at home. There are also some new classes coming up and...

Spring Break Art Camp is coming!

We hope you enjoy this issue.

Art projects to welcome Spring!

Easter Collage Coloring Sheet

Easter Egg Collage & Drawings

By doing this project, your child will basically be creating their own coloring sheet. Your artist may wish to make several of these so that they end up creating their own coloring book to give to friends or younger siblings. To do this, the ink drawings will need to be photocopied before they are colored in.

Decorative Egg Paintings

This project will probably require some help with blowing out the egg. Once you have a hollow egg, you can begin the painting.

You will need the following:

  • egg(s)
  • paint pallete
  • watercolor or Acrylic paint (in tubes)
  • water cup
  • very small (detail) paint brushes
  • A picture of something to paint from (bunny, flower, baby chick, etc...)
  • pencil
  • paper towel
  • egg cup or ring to display finished egg in, and to allow to dry

You may draw your design (very lightly) with pencil, and then paint it. Take your time. Don't rush. Paint on the lighter colors first, and the darker colors and details last.
