This is the 14th issue of "Young @ Art". In this issue you will find info about our upcoming Fall classes and our New Fashion Design Certificate Program! We hope you enjoy this issue!
We have had an amazing summer so far with some very talented and inspiring young artists at our summer camps! They have been busy with projects including landscapes on easels, paintings inspired by Georgia O'Keefe, weavings, and making pinatas. Look at our Student Art Gallery.
There are still two camps coming up. As of today, there is one more spot in the "Summer Artscapes" camp happening next week, and several spots still available in the "All Around Arts" camp that runs Aug. 24 - 28.

Fashion Design Certificate Program

New for teens!
I have taught a couple "Fashion Illustration " classes over the last couple years. Each time, I had hopes of some day expanding the program to include learning to sew and eventually allowing the students to create their own clothing based on their own fashion designs.
Over the last couple months I have been working on buying sewing machines and creating that program. And, voila! Here it is!
Introducing our new "Fashion Design Certificate Program" for teens! Starting this Fall, our new program will continue throughout the school year. Students wishing to complete the requirements for the certificate will need to attend at least 56 classes. Students who complete the program will have the opportunity to display their fashion designs during a fashion show at the end of the school year, complete with a runway.
Students will learn the following:
- figure drawing
- fashion illustration
- basic sewing
- sewing from a pattern
- pattern making
- sewing your own designs

All students enrolled in our 2009 Summer Art Camps, and the Spring and Summer art classes, will be able to exhibit one piece of art during the September Issaquah Art Walk. Our art exhibit will be located at the Issaquah Library, in the corner meeting room.
Come check out their amazing artwork! Here is more information about the Issaquah Art Walk.
