This is the 12th issue of the "Young @ Art" newsletter! Many young art students have been busy lately, creating art and improving their artistic skills.
There is information below about our upcoming student art show , and the "Meet the Artists" event this weekend. We hope to see you all there.
You will also find info here about our upcoming drawing and painting classes. I know the Fashion Illustration classes will be lots of fun!
We will be offering 4 weeks of summer art camps and one-day art workshops every Saturday this summer. We will have that info up on the website soon.

Student Art Exhibit

All current art students will have their artwork on display at the Issaquah Community Center from February 14 - February 28. Come take a look, and admire your student's art (or your friends). Open to the public.
Many of the artists in this exhibit are beginners, who have never had their artwork displayed and are taking an art class for the first time. The students are in grades Kindergarten - 6th grade.
These student art shows are very important because they not only give the students on opportunity to showcase their work, but they also instill in them a sense of accomplishment, and a sense of purpose. Students who have their work on display tend to strive to do their best work.
Student Art Exhibit "Meet the Artists" Event
All students (and their families & friends) are invited to view their art at the Community Center on Saturday, Feb. 14th from 2:00 - 4:00pm
There will be refreshments, art activities, and info about upcoming classes and Summer Art Camps.

Sketch Clip Boards

If your student is filling up all of their sketch books and every scrap of available paper at home, consider investing in a drawing/sketch clip board, and some large nice paper. Emphasize having them work on some more long-term "finished" drawings. Having a sketch clip board may inspire them to try some different types of drawings, like still-lives or nature landscapes - at home. A good set of watercolor pencils will allow them try drawing, blending colors, and even some paint-like effects. These items can be picked up at any Michael's Crafts, Aaron Brother's or even Fred Meyers.

For 3-4 Year Olds...
Stamping Fun
We will be stamping with rubber stamps, veggies, sponges and our fingers! Wednesdays 10:00am - 10:45am (April 15 - May 6)
Beads & Strings
We'll be weaving, beading & lacing! Good skills for little fingers! Wednesdays 10:00am - 10:45am (May 13 - June 3)
For 4-5 Year Olds...
Painting
Paint with tempura and watercolor. We will be painting landscapes, greeting cards and wrapping paper. Wednesdays 11:00 - 12:00 (Mar. 4 - 25)
Spring Stampin Art
Young artists will try stamping with sponges, rubber stamps and stencils while making fun art! Wednesdays 11:00 - 12:00 (April 14 - May 6)

Drawing People
A figure drawing class for beginners. We will work on self-portraits, and learn basic proportions for drawing people. Feb. 21 - Mar 28 (10:00 - 11:15)
Drawing with Color
Learn to draw and shade while using color pencils, and chalk pastel. Continuation of Basic Drawing class. Feb. 21 - Mar 28 (12:00 - 1:15) **The 10:00 class of this is full**
Basic Drawing
Beginning art class using pencil, ink, and charcoal. Saturdays, March 21 - April 25 (2:00 - 3:15)
Fashion Illustration
Learn to draw your own fashion designs! No experience necessary. Bring your friends! Saturdays, April 18-May 16 -no class on May 9th (10:00am - 11:15am)

Figure Drawing
Learn basic body proportions and work on form and shading while drawing the figure. We will focus on faces, hands and feet. Saturdays 12:00 - 1:30 (Feb 21 - Mar 28)
